Rath Yatra 2025: ‘Chaka Sanyoga’ Ritual Concludes, Chariot Construction Enters Final Stage

Puri : With the divine Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath approaching, preparations at the Ratha Khala in Puri reached a significant spiritual milestone today as the revered ritual of Chaka Sanyoga — the ceremonial attachment of wheels to the chariots — was successfully completed. This sacred event marks a crucial step in the construction of the three majestic chariots meant for Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.

Carpenters and temple artisans, guided by senior servitors, conducted the ritual amid resonant Vedic hymns and spiritual fervor. The joining of the large, hand-crafted wooden wheels to the chariot axles is both a precise technical task and a powerful religious tradition, symbolizing the momentum of divine progress.

Following the completion of Chaka Sanyoga, the final phase of the chariot-making process has now begun. This includes detailed decorative work and sacred embellishments, preparing the grand vehicles for the ceremonial journey.

Authorities from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, in coordination with the district officials, are overseeing preparations to ensure that this year’s Rath Yatra is conducted with utmost devotion, safety, and discipline. Lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad are expected to gather in Puri for the sacred procession.
